Un•an•tic•i•pat•ed

Unanticipated, as I showered
today, I watched long black strands of your hair
coil like water snakes toward the drain,
whipping their muscular way
toward the sewer, slipping through
the surge, singing silent songs of entropy
as they left me to cry
over the scent of your shampoo and the pitted
razor blades that did not leave with you
when death came to take you from our house –
and, before the kitchen felt
my feet and fingers searching for
routine, before the bed unmade me
more than yesterday, I again
turned down the frames of you I’d
set atop the shelves we’d hung
to hold memory unanticipated.

a poetic definition of the nature of the unanticipated.

Daily DeviationThere is much to be said for someone who can master the poetic arts of alliteration and enjambment, but once you read Un.an.tic.i.pat.ed by *b1gfan, you can easily see what makes this remarkable poem so unforgettable. Its flow and heart-wrenching subject, as our suggester notes, will most certainly weave its undeniable magic. (Suggested by ~Alannavich and Featured by ^LadyLincoln)

You revised it...this one's stronger. Same great imagery in the shower, but you've made the message clearer with more depth of emotion with being too obvious. Beautifully done.
nicely said
strong close

xo!

Well thank you much; that's very kind of you. Honestly, I'm often just glad that my mind works, let alone how. =)
Awwwwwwww thank you Cindy =)

The other draft was so incomplete so I'd put it in my journal to get it our of my head, at least long enough for it to take its own shape. I guess it turned out o.k.

Thank you very much =) The closing felt the hardest part (here as it is elsewhere - in art and life both) =)
